When Conakry is hit by a severe draught, young Bibi has to make some difficult decisions. He has kept secret from his father, the Imam of Conakry, both his job as a political cartoonist at a liberal newspaper and his relationship with a young woman from a middle-class family. Recently appointed to succeed his father as the new Imam, Bibi is expected to go on a study trip to Saudi Arabia, but his girlfriend discovers she’s pregnant. Clouds over Conakry builds a dialogue between tradition and modernity.
