Alain Modot is the co-founder and vice-president of Media Consulting Group, which was established in January 2002. He has expanded MCG’s activities in Paris, Brussels, and Rome. He has worked as a consultant for the European Commission and numerous public and private institutions and has been involved in several missions in many EU Member States as well as numerous countries in Africa and the Middle East.
Alain Modot developed the research department of Media Consulting Group and has led as team leader various studies at the European and international level (dubbing and subtitling, business models in the online distribution sector, on connected TV, investigative journalism). He has conducted numerous sector studies (content production, sector liberalizations), and feasibility studies in various countries around the world. Finally, he has been the team leader in many evaluations of European programs in Europe and numerous countries in Africa and the Middle East. In parallel, he developed the MCG distribution department which represents the RAI catalog, the Italian public television, in French-speaking territories. He launched DIFFA in 2011, an initiative for the promotion and sale of Africa Pacific Caribbean programs with the support of the International Organisation of La Francophonie. Today, DIFFA is one of the leaders in the distribution of African content and represents 162 producers and directors from 35 African countries with a catalog of more than 1400 hours of films, series, and documentaries.
Before this, in 1988, Alain Modot created the USPA (Association of Independent Producers) where he was the representative until 1995. From 1993 to 1995, he presided over the European Association of Independent Producers (CEPI). In 1995, he launched TVFI, the interprofessional body for the promotion and export of French audiovisual programs. After serving as Director of Institutional Relations at Groupe CANAL+ until 1999, he joined IMCA in October 1999 as Director of Institutional and European Affairs, a position he held until January 2002 to create MCG with Paul Hervé Vintrou. Alain Modot holds a postgraduate degree in Social Sciences (1981), a bachelor’s degree in Economics (1973), a DESS in Management and Economics (1975) from the University of Paris I Sorbonne, and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University Paris V (René Descartes 1975).
